Cascade Middle School in Washington is seeking an Inclusion Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year. This role blends Special Education and Multilingual Education to support students across four SPED programs, two Dual Language programs, and General Education, partnering with the Leadership Team to advance inclusive practice.

Cascade Middle School is seeking an Inclusion Specialist to join our team of educators for the 2026-2027school year!

PROFILE: At Cascade Middle School, the Inclusion Specialist is a uniquely positioned educator who brings expertise across Special Education and Multilingual Education. This role connects the experiences of our four Special Education programs, two Dual Language programs, and General Education classrooms, helping us think more expansively about inclusive practice across our school. Working closely with the Leadership Team, this person will contribute both to the everyday work of supporting students and staff and to the larger vision and planning for inclusion. We are looking for someone curious, collaborative, and excited to turn their perspective into meaningful action.

The Inclusion Specialist will carry a small caseload of 8 to 10 students, managing IEP goals, progress monitoring, documentation, and communication with families and teams. They will also lead targeted intervention cycles for Newcomer and Intermediate Multilingual Learners as they build toward Mainstream settings. This work will involve close partnership with teacher teams and district colleagues to identify needs, set priorities, and follow through on impact. This is a rare opportunity to shape both individual student experiences and the systems that define what inclusion can look like at Cascade.

Please note, both SpEd and ELL or Bilingual Ed endorsements are required for this position.

SCHOOL-BASED SPECIALIST SUMMARY: The School-based Specialist is an accomplished teacher who serves in a school leadership role outside the classroom with the purpose of supporting the growth of instructional and professional practice in other staff and/or facilitating the implementation of a building program. A School-based Specialist may work in four main ways:

  • Facilitate effective and cohesive instructional/professional teams within the school building
  • Provide focused classroom coaching work with individual staff
  • Facilitate planning and implementation of the school building's professional development work
  • Serve in a variety of roles (to be determined) as a system leader, enabling strategic attention to curriculum/program, assessment and staff development needs

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER SUMMARY: A Special Education teacher works with students found eligible for special education services through the Highline Public School's Special education process of identification and evaluation. Eligible students access learning in their Least Restrictive Environment determined by their IEP (Individualized Education Plan) team. Instruction is provided by certificated teachers with Special Education degrees or endorsements.

Required Qualifications:

  • WA State Teaching Certificate with endorsements appropriate to subject area and grade level of assignment
  • Three years successful teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year successful experience as a specialist or similar role
