Job summary

Swampscott Public Schools is seeking a Learning Lighthouse Special Education Teacher for K-2. You will plan and implement individualized instruction for students with significant needs, with a focus on self-regulation and effective instructional strategies to promote academic integration in the least restrictive environment.

The role requires a Master’s degree, DESE Severe Disabilities certification, and experience with ABA, Zones of Regulation, and Social Thinking Curricula.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• 3 years of experience preferred.
• SevereDisabilities DESE certification in the required grade level.
• BCBA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement individualized instruction for students with significant needs.
• Develop curriculum and accommodations for students with developmental delays (social behavior, autism, ADHD, emotional issues).
• Utilize student interests to weave into curriculum topics.
• Modify curriculum and provide accommodations in inclusion settings.
• Implement behavior support plans and collect data to inform progress and interventions.
• Demonstrate de-escalation techniques when needed to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Model and coach staff for behavioral supports and accommodations.
• Communicate with parents about student progress and next steps.
