Job summary

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis seeks a Coordinator of Disabilities Ministry to lead inclusion efforts for persons with disabilities within parish life. You will coordinate SPREAD groups, order materials, train catechists, and support pastors and parish leaders.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a heart for evangelization. Evening/weekend work and travel within the Archdiocese are regularly required; ASL knowledge and familiarity with Deaf culture are preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or coursework in special education and theology preferred.
At least 5 years of teaching and/or administration experience required.
Background screening and valid driver’s license required.
Evening and weekend work and travel within the Archdiocese required.

Responsibilities

Coordinate SPREAD groups across the Archdiocese, including training catechists.
Assist the Department of Parish Leadership with events and parish leader outreach.
Oversee events such as the Dinner Dance, Disabilities Awareness Mass, Summer Retreat, and Advent Day of Reflection.
Establish a Parish Access Contact Person or Inclusion Team to promote inclusion.
Identify adaptive resources and provide formation opportunities for leaders.
Advocate for the Deaf Catholic community.
