Job summary

PUC Schools is seeking an Inclusion Assistant to support students with IEPs in an inclusive classroom setting. You will help with academics, behavior, social-emotional regulation, and daily functioning while collecting behavior data for specialists and staff.

Strong data collection, communication, and teamwork are essential. The role requires completing required coursework (12 sem/18 qtr units) or holding a BA/BS, with preference for ABA knowledge and bilingual Spanish abilities.

Qualifications

• Must complete 12 semester units and/or 18 quarter units; BA/BS degree required
• Experience supporting students with special needs in an inclusive setting preferred
• Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and ABA principles preferred

Responsibilities

The team member will support the Inclusion Team in providing service minutes to support students with IEP’s growth based on academic and other IDEA-specific needs. All PUC school students participate in full inclusion.What you will need to accomplish:Under the direction of an Inclusion Specialist, you will:Understand school-wide student and staff expectations and actively support programming for student(s) with special needs who require support in the areas of academics, behavior, social-emotional regulation, and/or daily functioning skillsImplement data-driven push in academic support as an IEP Related Service (known as “RSP” services) in the inclusive classroom, including (but not limited to):Providing direct support to students with special needs within the “inclusive classroom” individually, in small groups, or on a one-to-one basis as needed and directed by credentialed staffEnsuring students with special needs have access to their outlined accommodations and supports within the classroom as outlined in their IEPsProviding some small group pull-out support for the provision of assessments and/or targeted support under the supervision of the Inclusion Specialist and based on student’s IEPsAssisting with testing, classwork completion, homework completion, program reviews, reports, student files, schedules, and any other instructional program assignmentsAssist with certificated personnel in the conduct of lessons and other classroom activitiesFacilitating recognition of students who are successful in meeting academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goalsPromoting positive learning and reinforcing replacement behaviorsPrompting student learning and engagementEngaging in de-escalation and redirection as neededAssisting with behavior, social-emotional, toileting, and daily functional skills, if requiredBuild strong relationships with students and staffUnderstand and implement the academic, behavior, and/or social-emotional support as outlined in students’ current IEPsWork directly with student(s)Collect data on behavior for interpretation by Behavior Intervention Development (BID), Inclusion Specialist, and other charter staffCompile multiple types of data records daily, weekly, and monthlyRecord and track supports in Welligent on at least a weekly basisAssist with IEPs as necessaryDirect all parent inquiries to Inclusion Specialist(s) and/or credentialed teacherAttend and complete all required trainings as assigned by PUC, your site leader, and/or BID and Inclusion SpecialistFoster a safe and nurturing learning environment in collaboration with teachers and staffSupport an environment where students are excited about learning and preparing for college and post-secondary successBuild professional knowledgeDemonstrate support and knowledge of the school's goals and missionPerform other duties as assignedWhat do we require from you?Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience:Must complete 12 semester units and/or 18 quarter units and be currently enrolled for the same units or possess a BA/BS degree requiredPrior experience working with students with special needs in a learning environmentSkills and AbilitiesProficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Proficient in data collectionStrong math skillsAlignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticityKnowledge of behavior intervention strategiesKnowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and techniques preferredMust be flexible and team-orientedAble to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentBilingual in Spanish preferredStrong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of workRegular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this positionThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
