Job summary

PUC Schools is seeking a Behavior Implementation Interventionist to support the Inclusion Team in providing 1:1 behavioral and social‑emotional regulation support for students with IEPs. You will implement data‑driven interventions and help track progress using Welligent, while collaborating with teachers and staff.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (preferred), school‑based experience, and strong communication skills; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or enrolled in related units.
• At least 1 year of school-based experience in related role.
• RBT license preferred but not required.

Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is a non‑profit network of public charter schools focused on increasing high school graduation, college entrance, and college completion rates for underserved students in Northeast Los Angeles and the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

The Team Member we are searching for

The ideal Behavior Implementation Interventionist (BII) shares the mission of PUC Schools and demonstrates commitment through leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. This team member will support the Inclusion Team by providing service minutes to help students with IEPs meet behavior and social‑emotional needs. All PUC school students participate in full inclusion.

What you will need to accomplish

• Understand school‑wide student and staff expectations and actively support programming 1:1 to a student with special needs who requires support in behavior and social‑emotional regulation.
• Implement data‑driven behavior intervention support as an IEP‑related service directly, including:
  • Facilitating recognition of students who successfully meet social, emotional, and behavioral goals.
  • Promoting positive learning and reinforcing replacement behaviors.
  • Promoting and teaching self‑regulation.
  • Prompting student behavior.
  • Engaging in de‑escalation and redirection as needed.
  • Assisting with toileting and daily functional skills, if required.
• Understand and implement the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) in the student’s current IEP, along with any behavior support or safety plan development and modification by the BID and/or school‑based team.
• Work directly with student(s), often 1:1 in the classroom and school environment, to implement their behavior plans and ensure access to appropriate supports based on their IEP.
• Collect data on behavior for interpretation by BID, Inclusion Specialist, and other charter staff:
  • Compile multiple types of data records daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Record and track support in Welligent at least weekly.
• Direct all parent inquiries to the BID and Inclusion Specialist.
• Attend and complete all required trainings as assigned by PUC, your site leader, and/or BID and Inclusion Specialist.
• Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment in collaboration with teachers and staff.
• Build professional knowledge.
• Demonstrate support and knowledge of the school’s goals and mission.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) or
  • Must complete 12 semester units and/or 18 quarter units and be currently enrolled for the same units.
• Registered Behavior Therapy (RBT) License (preferred).

Experience

• At least 1 year of previous experience working in a school‑based setting as a Special Education Assistant, paraprofessional, Behavior Interventionist (BII), Behavior Therapist (BT), or related position (required).

Skills and Abilities

• Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Proficient in data collection.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

• Must be flexible and team‑oriented.
• Able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
• Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).

• Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with standards are essential.

Physical Demands

Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds, bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
