Job summary

Springfield Park District is seeking a Special Recreation Inclusion Aide to support participants in various programs, including camps, after school and Special Olympics. The role requires guiding activities, ensuring safety, and fostering an inclusive, energetic environment for individuals with disabilities.

The position is part-time, non-exempt, with a wage of $16.00 per hour. Must be 16 or older and able to work indoors and outdoors within the Special Recreation Department.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn new activities and sports.
• Ability to adapt to new situations quickly.
• Enthusiasm and strong communication with diverse participants.
• Knowledge of Special Olympics rules is a plus.
• Must be 16 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Ensure participant safety by enforcing safety regulations.
• Explain activity rules and instruct participants at various skill levels.
• Maintain knowledge of daily schedules for camps, after school, and programs including Special Olympics.
• Communicate effectively with participants, staff, management and parents.
• Assist in teaching, leading and participating in activities with energy and positivity.
• Set up and organize equipment for activities and restore after completion.
• Perform duties as assigned by Camp Director or Special Recreation Supervisor.
• Serve as a positive role model for individuals in care.
• Work indoors and outdoors as needed.
• Respect park district property and promote responsible use by participants.
• Assist individuals with or without disabilities to succeed in programs.
