Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is seeking a FT Inbound Freight Handler in Columbus, GA. You will load/unload freight, inspect trailers, and prepare equipment for safe transport. You’ll use forklifts and other handling gear, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure blocking of cargo.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, background check and drug test, and forklift certification preferred. Third shift with pay $29.70–$34.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must pass a background check and an alcohol/drug test.
• Experience as forklift operator, dock/warehouse worker, or material handler preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using equipment.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading.
• Use safe lifting techniques and proper handling gear.
• Weigh/dimension shipments and plan cube utilization.
• Review freight bills and check manifests for instructions.
• Verify hazardous material paperwork and placarding if needed.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
