Job summary

Daylight Transport in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking a dockworker to ensure efficient freight movement and adherence to dock safety procedures. You will operate forklifts or manual handling to load and unload trailers while following SOPs for paperwork and cleanliness.

Candidates must be forklift certified and able to read instructions; high school diploma or GED preferred; strong English communication; ability to lift 50+ pounds; regular safety meetings.

  • Ensuring that the dock and associated areas are kept clean.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and safe environment.

Schedule :

Sunday's start time is 3pm each Sunday working 5-6 hours. Tuesday - Friday has a start time of 3am each day while working 5-6 hours a day.

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the successful movement of freight across the dock. As part of this movement, the dockworker is to adhere to all dock safety regulations regarding the movement of freight with designated equipment, such as a forklift. Furthermore, the dockworker is to follow all standard operating procedures regarding the completion of dock paperwork and dock cleanliness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Prior experience preferred. Must be able to drive a forklift.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Good command of the English language a must. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must be forklift certified and have successfully completed the Dock Training Program.
