Job summary

Altos Labs Bay Area seeks a skilled Research Associate or Research Specialist (I/II) to advance neuroscience research. You will lead in vivo brain surgeries, including cranial windows and targeted AAV deliveries, and generate disease-relevant models to study brain health and resilience.

The role requires substantial experience in rodent stereotaxic surgeries, longitudinal imaging, and behavioral integration, with strict adherence to IACUC standards and meticulous data handling.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Neuroscience, Biology, Bioengineering, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on stereotaxic and cranial window surgeries in rodent models in academic or industry settings.
• Experience with intracranial viral vector (AAV) delivery and longitudinal in vivo study designs.
• Knowledge of neurodegenerative disease models (e.g., Alzheimer's, tauopathies).
• Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently within a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Perform precise cranial window surgeries in murine models for longitudinal imaging.
• Deliver intracranial AAV vectors and tracers using stereotaxic techniques.
• Manage the full surgical workflow including pre-op prep, anesthesia, procedure, and post-op care.
• Generate disease-relevant cohorts and model neurodegenerative conditions.
• Conduct behavioral assays aligned with surgical models to correlate findings.
• Maintain rigorous surgical records and comply with IACUC protocols.
