Altos Labs in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a meticulous Research Associate or Research Specialist I/II with expertise in in vivo brain surgeries and behavior to join the Rosi Lab within Discovery Sciences. You will drive cranial window surgeries, manage longitudinal studies, and contribute to disease-relevant models that illuminate brain health and resilience.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Bioengineering, or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on stereotaxic and cranial window surgeries in rodent models in academia or industry.
• Technical: Demonstrated success with intracranial viral vector (AAV) delivery and longitudinal in vivo study designs.
• Subject matter: Knowledge of neurodegenerative disease models (e.g., Alzheimer’s, tauopathies).
• Professional: High manual dexterity, attention to detail, ability to work independently and with a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Perform cranial window surgeries in mice with longitudinal imaging readiness.
• Deliver intracranial AAV vectors and tracers with stereotaxic precision.
• Manage complete surgical workflow from pre-op to post-op care.
• Generate disease-relevant cohorts aligned with endpoints.
• Conduct behavioral assays to correlate with in vivo findings.
• Maintain surgical records and follow IACUC protocols.
