Job summary

Cerro Wire LLC on the Marmon Holdings platform is seeking an experienced production operator to run and monitor copper wire extrusion lines. You will set up dies, tooling and lubricants, adjust temperatures and speeds, inspect output for quality, and keep the line running smoothly through teamwork and preventive maintenance.

This on-site role emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to specifications while contributing to Lean initiatives and daily process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience operating production equipment and adhering to safety rules.
• Ability to read and follow job orders and specifications.
• Proactive in preventive maintenance and housekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Set up machine with dies, tooling and lubricants as required.
• Change dies and tooling and thread wire through dies and take up.
• Configure extruder per product; control temperature, speed and nylon thickness.
• Measure wire, inspect for defects and adjust controls to meet specs.
• Perform quality testing with precision instruments and weld/grind ends for finish.
• Move finished wire using powered lifts and maintain clean work area.
• Perform preventive and minor equipment maintenance; assist line teammates to restore production.
• Update GEMBA boards and participate in Lean events and safety audits.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Performs duties related to the production process of a continuous copper coil drawing the copper coil from a 3/8 inch diameter to a usable size and continuous wire extruding machines to a specific tolerance and finish for further processing.

• Uses job orders and sets up machine with dies, tooling and lubricants as required.


• Changes dies and tooling, as necessary, points wire and \"strings up\" machine through dies, tooling and take up.


• Setup extruder in accordance with required product.


• Set controls to regulate temperature, speed, thickness of Nylon on wire.


• Untangles snarls, and repairs breaks in wire.


• Gage wire and adds lubricants as required to hold the proper tolerances.


• Measures and examines extruded products to locate defects and to check for conformance to specifications, adjusting controls as necessary to alter products.


• Uses precision instruments to perform quality testing.


• Welds ends for continuous flow and grinds for smooth finish.


• Moves finished wire from spooler using powered lift trucks and copper coil supply.


• Maintains cleanliness of work area and observes all company and safety rules.


• Perform preventive and minor equipment maintenance as required.


• Ability to work as a team by supporting other operators in area to get line back up after a breakout.


• Takes ownership of line TPMs.


• Update GEMBA boards as required.


• Participate in Lean events as well as housekeeping and safety audits as needed.


• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
