Job summary

Goodwill of Central Florida is seeking a Part Time Retail Associate in Apopka, FL to greet customers, process donations, and assist with stocking and pricing wares. The role requires physical activity including lifting items and working in a retail environment.

Responsibilities include assisting donors, scanning items, following safety procedures, and providing excellent service with a friendly demeanor. Prior retail or stock handling experience is preferred, with a focus on maintaining a clean

Essential Functions/Duties

1. 1. Greet each customer with a courteous, friendly and professional attitude; provide prompt, efficient, and accurate customer service at all times.
2. 2. Politely and professionally receive donations from donors and issue donation receipts for articles donated; assist customers with lifting items in and out of their vehicles.
3. 3. Sort donations as they arrive into proper carts or bins and make proper determination as to the quality of donations.
4. 4. Sort and price hard goods (wares).
5. 5. Keep production area clean and safe and other store areas as directed.
6. 6. Maintain well groomed appearance and appropriate dress code including name badge and vest.

Additional Functions/Duties

1. 1. Provide general information to customers/donors.
2. 2. Assist processors when needed.
3. 3. Follow Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) procedures and other Public Protection Guidelines.
4. 4. React calmly and respond to emergency situations.
5. 5. Refer all customer/donor complaints to management in a timely manner.
6. 6. Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Education and/or Experience

Previous retail and/or stock handling experience is preferred.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and beginner knowledge of utilizing a barcode scanner.

1. 1. Regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
2. 2. Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
3. 3. Standing and walking for long periods of time.
4. 4. Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push and pull.
5. 5. Sufficient mobility to turn from side to side and the ability to lean and remove items from containers.
6. 6. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
