Job summary

Varda is seeking a highly capable Manager to lead the Crystallization Screening Team, advancing therapeutics with microgravity in a growth area for the company. You will shape Varda’s biopharma culture and drive the low Earth orbit economy.

You will oversee screening programs, coordinate with external partners, and ensure project timelines align with business goals while fostering scientific leadership and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• PhD with 4+ years or MS with 8+ years relevant industry experience.
• Experience with polymorph screening of small molecules or crystallization of biologics.
• Strong foundation in materials science, organic chemistry, protein chemistry or physical biochemistry.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, GraphPad Prism, Python, or R).
• Experience managing external partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Oversee crystallization screening and characterization of molecules for microgravity opportunities across modalities.
• Advance microgravity crystallization, adopting automation to accelerate timelines.
• Support collaborations with external partners, CROs, and vendors.
• Ensure alignment of R&D activities, budgets, and timelines with company goals.
• Manage interfaces across pharmaceutical development groups.
