Job summary

Orange County Schools 332 - Orange High School in Hillsborough, NC is hiring a full-time ISS/Teacher Assistant. Starting date is immediate; works Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, 10 months per year, under the Assigned Principal/Teacher. Salary is Grade 56 plus local supplement; non-exempt status.

The ISS provides one-on-one academic and behavioral support, maintains a testing environment, and assists with clerical tasks and housekeeping as needed. Valid NC driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher with 48 college hours and GPA 2.0 or higher.
• Experience working with students; ability to maintain a disciplined academic environment.
• Able to perform general clerical duties and operate common office machines.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license (NC).

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision for students in the In‑School Suspension classroom.
• Take daily attendance.
• Review ISS policies and expectations with students daily.
• Monitor ISS assignments and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
• Ensure students have security escorts to lavatory facilities.
• Refer behavior problems to Assistant Principals.
