This is a 9 month position for 7hours/day (plus 1/2 hour unpaid lunch). This position is eligible for medical coverage only.
Supervise and assist students placed in the in-school suspension as provided for in the discipline policy. Communicate with teachers, gather assignments, and assist students with their assignments. Keep Discipline Office apprised of any additional student concerns. Proctor final exams to any students unable to test in the classrooms, due to suspensions. Assist office and staff personnel with clerical work as time permits.
Completion of two years of study (60 hours) at an institution of higher education or obtained an associate's (or higher) degree or met a rigorous standard of quality with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of and to assist in instruction, reading, writing and mathematics prefered. Effective communication skills. Ability to take direction. Initiative and dependability in carrying out assignments. Patience and genuine interest in education of students. Awareness and respect for differences of students. Clerical skills, flexibility and confidentiality required. Previous experience as a classroom assistant desirable. Training for this position will be implemented upon hiring.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $13.58 to $20.24, depending on experience.
