Job summary

The School District of Philadelphia seeks a dedicated sign language interpreter to support Deaf or Hard of Hearing students mainstreamed into regular classes. You will use ASL and transliteration to relay information between students, teachers, and peers to facilitate learning and social interaction.

Qualified candidates have an EIPA score of 3.5+ or RID certification and prior educational interpretation experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in interpreter education/preparation is required.
• Bachelor's degree in education or a related field is required or preferred.
• EIPA score 3.5+ or RID certification is required or accepted.

Responsibilities

• Interpret spoken material into sign language for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
• Translate sign language into spoken language for teachers and peers.
• Consult with special education teachers on student needs and progress.
• Serve as an interpreter at assemblies and district activities.
