Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Occupational Therapist to lead the development, implementation, and coordination of the district's therapy program for students with disabilities, focusing on ADLs, personal care, communication, and community participation.

Team members will collaborate on diagnostic processes, communicate with parents, and complete required paperwork (Domain, EDC, IEP). A strong commitment to professional excellence and ongoing staff development is expected.

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist in Illinois.
• Experience with EC-8 students in educational settings.
• Interest/experience with students with varying disabilities.
• Expertise in educational assessments and IEP development.
• Ability to collaborate with staff to optimize student achievement.
• Willingness to participate in staff development.
• Commitment to professional excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develops and coordinates the district's occupational therapy program within the school district, including philosophy, vision, procedures and goals.
• Screens, evaluates and monitors students for educational programs, therapy, and transition planning to enhance ADLs and occupations.
• Collaborates with staff to ensure understanding of student performance and outcomes.
• Evaluates student abilities and documents occupational profiles to guide intervention.
• Participates in development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to facilitate participation.
• Assesses need for assistive technology and makes school-based recommendations.
• Documents therapy services and maintains records per policies and laws.
• Plans, coordinates and conducts continuing education for staff, parents, and students.
• Maintains ongoing professional knowledge through seminars and research.
