Job summary

NR Consulting in Indianapolis is seeking a Sr In-Plant Logistics Engineer to design and optimize warehouse layouts, improve material flow, and lead end-to-end logistics projects. You will standardize processes, implement WMS/SAP logistics, and collaborate across manufacturing, supply chain, and production teams to boost efficiency and safety.

The role requires hands-on experience in warehouse engineering, process improvement, and inventory management, with a focus on cost reduction and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• Proven experience in warehouse planning, warehouse engineering, or in-plant logistics operations.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse layout design, storage concepts, and material handling systems.
• Hands-on experience in material flow analysis and logistics process optimization.
• Experience leading process improvement, warehouse setup, or transformation projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize warehouse layouts, storage systems, and material flow processes to maximize efficiency and space utilization.
• Develop and implement material handling strategies, including line-side delivery, replenishment, and transportation routes.
• Conduct material flow analysis and simulations to identify bottlenecks and improve operational performance.
• Lead warehouse setup, relocation, and transformation projects, including high-bay racking systems and logistics infrastructure.
• Analyze warehouse operations and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Define and standardize processes for receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping operations.
• Develop inventory management strategies and establish KPIs to monitor warehouse effectiveness.
• Support the implementation and optimization of WMS and SAP logistics processes.
• Perform safety assessments, risk analyses, and ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, production, and customer teams to ensure smooth logistics operations.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, layouts, and project plans for stakeholder review.
• Manage end-to-end logistics and warehouse improvement projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and communication.
