Job summary

The South Dakota Board of Regents is seeking a part-time Instructor, Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SDSMT) in Rapid City. This temporary position for fall 2026 and/or spring 2027 semesters requires teaching undergraduate courses in-person and leading laboratory sections.

Ideal candidates must have an earned MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and preferably a PhD, along with strong communication skills and prior teaching experience. Employment is contingent upon funding and background investigations.

Qualifications

• Earned MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or closely related field); PhD preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior university or college level teaching experience.
• Engineering experience in industry or government.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate mechanical engineering courses in-person.
• Lead accompanying laboratory sections.
• Ensure effective student learning and engagement in all classes.
