Job summary

Ask ITC Inc. in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Senior COBOL Developer to join our on-site team for a long-term project. You will work on mainframe systems using COBOL, Easytrieve, JCL, and DB2, and you will troubleshoot and debug batch and online processes in a TSO/ISPF environment.

The role requires strong self-direction, excellent communication, and the ability to manage milestones in a structured development lifecycle. This full-time position is based at 501 N.

Qualifications

• Experience developing/maintaining mainframe systems using COBOL, Easytrieve, JCL, and DB2.
• Experience using secure FTP in a batch environment.
• Experience with troubleshooting and debugging mainframe applications.
• Knowledge of software QA/testing across the full SDLC.
• Experience with TSO/ISPF, Z/OS and PARMLIB configurations.

Responsibilities

• Development and enhancement of applications based on established design specifications.
• Analysis, design, coding, component/assembly testing of all application code owned by the Application Team.
• Implementing configuration changes to software applications to meet both functional and technical requirements.
• Writing application software, data analysis, data access, data structures, data manipulation, databases, design, programming, testing and implementation, documentation, maintenance.
• Unit testing applications and developing system and user documentation.

Duration: 6 Months+

Skills:

• Experience developing/maintaining mainframe systems using COBOL, Easytrieve, JCL, and DB2
• Experience using secure FTP in a batch environment
• Experience with troubleshooting and debugging mainframe applications
• Knowledge of techniques and methodologies relating to software quality assurance and testing through the full systems development lifecycle
• Experience working in an environment with TSO/ISPF, Z/OS and PARMLIB configurations
• Ability to manage time, milestones, and be self-directed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Description (including, but not limited to):
