Job summary

Roanoke-Chowan Community College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach History (HIS) courses in-person, with potential for hybrid/online formats. The role requires a Master’s degree in the discipline (or 18 graduate hours) or equivalent credentials, plus 2+ years of professional field experience and college teaching exposure.

You will use Moodle/Canvas for course materials, grades, and communication with students.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Discipline or Master’s with 18 graduate hours in Discipline.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Field and relevant certifications/licences.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in Field.
• College-level teaching experience.
• Experience with Moodle, Canvas, or other LMS.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in HIS program, in-person; may include hybrid/online formats.
• Deliver high-quality instruction and maintain accurate academic records.
• Provide clear instructions and timely feedback within one week of due dates.
• Maintain attendance and grade records in Self-Service and Moodle.
• Post syllabi in Moodle; communicate via college email within 24–48 hours.
• Promote an inclusive environment and FERPA-compliant confidentiality.
• Attend orientation, training, and professional development activities.
