Job summary

Tutor Partners, LLC is seeking an experienced high school English Language Arts tutor to provide in-person tutoring at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in partnership with LACOE. The role supports students during the school day with reading, writing, and language development, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, now through the 2026-27 School Year.

Pay is $20–$30 per hour. Qualifications include an associate degree (or 24 college credits) and at least 1 year of experience with grades 6–12;

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or minimum 24 college credits required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with students in grades 6-12; juvenile justice or alternative education a plus.
• Strong content knowledge in high school ELA: reading comprehension, writing, and grammar.
• Experience supporting English Learners (EL) is a plus.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills; ability to pass background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide small-group and push-in ELA support aligned to student needs during the school day; includes reading, writing, and English language development.
• Track and report student progress.
• Participate in instructional planning with teachers and school leaders, administration of assessments, and coordination meetings.
• Collaborate with Tutor Partners staff and site personnel to coordinate scheduling and materials.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and professional learning environment.
