Job summary

Safe Shores - The DC Children’s Advocacy Center is seeking a Child & Adolescent Forensic Interviewer to conduct developmentally appropriate forensic interviews with child and adolescent victims or witnesses. This 100% in-person role requires five days on-site weekly and participation in an on‑call rotation for after-hours shifts.

The position emphasizes survivor-centered care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and adherence to DC statutes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in psychology, social work, or related field.
  • At least two years’ experience working as a direct service provider.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; high cultural competence and humility.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work independently.
  • Ability to pass Child Protection Registry clearance and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-person forensic interviews of alleged child/adolescent victims or witnesses.
  • Provide written documentation regarding interviews for Case Review purposes.
  • Participate in supervision, peer review, and in-service training.
  • Share training regarding interview protocols and child development.
  • Share after-hour on-call responsibilities for forensic interviewing.
  • Respond to crisis situations with clients.
  • Testify in civil and criminal proceedings as appropriate.
  • Consult with MDT members and participate in planning efforts.
  • Maintain and update electronic case files and data tracking.
