Job summary

Van Wey & Metzler is seeking an in-office Junior Litigation Paralegal to support plaintiff medical malpractice and birth injury litigation from investigation through trial prep. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and can manage deadlines while keeping fast-paced civil litigation moving forward. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of solid experience in plaintiff-side medical malpractice and/or personal injury litigation.
• Proficiency with Filevine, Office 365, a document management system, and/or similar tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines.
• Organized, meticulous, dependable, and team-oriented in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft correspondence, pleadings, disclosures, discovery and deposition requests, notices, and other litigation documents.
• Maintain and organize electronic documents, perform e-filing and e-service duties.
• Coordinate scheduling of depositions, hearings, and other case settings, calls and meetings.
• Maintain current case data in Filevine, communicate with clients, manage calendar and deadlines, and conduct background research.
• Prepare for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials, gathering documents and materials for attorneys.
• Communicate with expert witnesses, transmit documents, and facilitate meetings/depositions.
• Perform case administration tasks, including opening and closing cases.
• Support drafting motions, pleadings, petitions, settlement documents, and other legal materials.
• Provide administrative support including mail, faxes, supplies, and conference room coordination.
