Job summary

EYA, a premier residential developer in the Washington, DC metro, seeks an Associate General Counsel - Real Estate Transactions to join its in-house team in Bethesda, MD. This role targets a real estate attorney with ~3–7 years of transactional experience who wants to move to owner/developer side.

You will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of real estate documents, support acquisitions and closings, and coordinate with internal teams to advance transactions through diligence and closing.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Approximately 3–7 years of real estate transactional experience.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating real estate transaction documents.
• Experience representing or working with real estate developers or owners preferred.
• Licensure in MD/VA/DC or ability to practice in DC metro area.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate real estate documents for acquisition, development, ownership, and disposition (P&S, LOIs, development agreements, easements, REAs, declarations, deeds).
• Support acquisitions, dispositions, and closings with increasing independent responsibility.
• Review title and survey, identify issues, and prepare resolutions.
• Advise on due diligence materials and legal issues.
• Prepare HOA documents, disclosures, and homebuyer contracts.
• Handle loan documents and closings for acquisition, development, and construction loans.
• Draft and negotiate vendor and service agreements.
• Collaborate with GC and cross-functional teams to provide practical legal guidance.
• Coordinate with title companies, outside counsel, and transaction participants to move matters forward.
• Develop depth of understanding of EYA's business to independently manage real estate transactions from diligence through closing.
