Job summary

The Moinian Group in New York is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Real Estate to focus on office and retail leasing, contract review and financing support. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will draft, review, and negotiate leases and related documents for a growing portfolio.

The ideal candidate has a J.D., active bar membership, 5–7 years of retail leasing and commercial real estate experience, with in-house experience considered a plus.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school with active bar membership.
• 5–7 years of legal experience focusing on retail leasing and commercial real estate.
• In-house experience is a plus; ability to work autonomously on real estate matters.
• Strong negotiation, business-oriented judgment, and exceptional communication.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate retail leases and related real estate documents.
• Partner with internal teams and landlords to align lease terms.
• Review and negotiate NDAs, amendments, assignments, and related agreements.
• Provide legal counsel on disputes, landlord-tenant obligations, and enforcement actions.
• Collaborate with Real Estate Operations to align terms with business needs.
• Support development of internal lease templates and negotiation playbooks.
• Track lease negotiations and approvals through internal systems.
