Job summary

UVA Culpeper Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible OB/GYN Hospitalist for hospital-based obstetric care in Culpeper, VA. The role emphasizes 24-hour in-house Labor & Delivery coverage, patient safety, teamwork, and work-life balance within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Eligible candidates include physicians with Virginia licensure and DEA certification, experienced in high-acuity obstetric care or strong obstetric training.

Qualifications

• Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
• Eligible for Virginia medical licensure and DEA certification
• Comfortable managing high-acuity obstetric care and emergencies
• Strong communication skills and commitment to team-based care
• Interest in patient safety, standardized care, and hospital-based practice

Responsibilities

• Provide in-house Labor & Delivery coverage during assigned shifts
• Manage labor, delivery, and postpartum care for unassigned and emergent patients
• Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Respond to obstetric emergencies and rapid response events
• Provide emergency gynecologic consultations and procedures as needed
• Collaborate with outpatient OB/GYNs for continuity of care
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
