We are seeking a skilled and experienced In-House Litigation Staff Attorney to join our legal team, with a primary focus on collections and creditor’s rights. This role involves managing litigation matters involving the company in Texas, including pursuing collection actions and defending claims, with an emphasis on proactive legal strategy and risk mitigation.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of three years of litigation experience in Texas, particularly in collections, debt recovery, and creditor’s rights. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven litigator seeking an impactful in-house role.
Collaborate with the General Counsel, Legal Department Manager, and internal teams to develop and implement litigation strategies that align with the company’s goals.
Represent the company in all pre-litigation and litigation matters in Texas state and federal courts, including breach of contract and non-payment cases.
Defend the company in litigation and collaborate with outside counsel when necessary to craft and execute successful defense strategies.
Manage all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, trials, appeals, and settlements.
Negotiate payment arrangements and settlements; participate in mediation and other alternative dispute resolution processes.
Oversee enforcement of judgments in Texas and coordinate internal and external resources to ensure collection efforts are efficient and compliant.
Monitor and manage Texas bankruptcy, foreclosure, and probate matters affecting the company’s interests.
Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and internal policies.
Maintain detailed records of legal matters and regularly report case progress and outcomes to senior leadership.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active member in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience in Texas, with strong knowledge of collections, creditor’s rights, consumer finance, and breach of contract disputes.
In-house counsel experience is a plus, but not required.
Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and develop strategic litigation plans.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently and efficiently.
