Job summary

PALFINGER North America is seeking an in-shop technician in Birmingham, AL to diagnose and repair cranes, truck-mounted forklifts, platforms, and related equipment. You will work with the shop team to plan repairs, perform maintenance, and ensure safety standards are met.

You will handle diagnostics, preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and warranty tasks, while documenting all labor and parts. A strong background in hydraulics and electrical systems is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• 3 years of mechanical experience or training focusing cranes and forklifts.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical/electronic systems, diagnostics and welding is expected.

Responsibilities

• Turn mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical challenges into reliable solutions for cranes, truck mounted forklifts, bucket trucks and trailers.
• Report to the Regional Service Manager and coordinate with the shop manager on issues and repair strategies.
• Perform preventive maintenance, complete DOT inspections, and handle warranty service.
• Address emergencies during working and non-working hours with thorough troubleshooting.
• Produce precise service documentation: estimates, authorizations, parts ordering, labor entries, and inventory tracking.
