Job summary

Dimensional Fund Advisors’ Legal division is an in-house team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants who partner with internal and external teams to provide legal expertise across business functions, legal systems, and jurisdictions. This counsel will assist with day-to-day legal needs for the firm’s global investments function with emphasis on proprietary ETFs.

Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and Vice President, the role involves advising on federal, state, and international

Qualifications

• 4-10 years of practice in a top-tier law firm or in-house with ETF/fund regulation
• Knowledge of ETF structure, portfolio management processes, and federal securities laws (Investment Company Act of 1940; Investment Advisers Act of 1940)
• Licensed to practice in a US state
• Detail oriented, organized, and professional
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to translate complex legal concepts for other departments
• Able to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing business priorities

Responsibilities

• Support the offering and operation of proprietary ETFs and related agreements and policies
• Assist risk management, compliance, and portfolio management with legal analysis across jurisdictions
• Review 38a-1 and 206(4)-7 compliance programs and related policies
• Analyze substantial shareholder filings and corporate action elections
• Prepare memoranda, agendas, and meeting materials for internal and board meetings
• Coordinate with outside counsel to ensure service delivery and cost efficiency
