Job summary

WWSG is seeking an Assistant In-House Counsel (Employment Law) to join the legal team in California. The role focuses on employment litigation, compliance, and risk management, with direct collaboration with HR and business leaders.

This onsite position offers exposure to high-impact matters as the company transitions in-house. The ideal candidate has CA employment litigation experience, including wage & hour, PAGA, FEHA, and related disputes, and holds an active California Bar license.

Qualifications

• JD required and California Bar license.
• 2–6 years of employment litigation experience.
• Experience with wage & hour, PAGA, FEHA, or employment class actions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with employment litigation matters, including wage & hour claims, PAGA matters, and employment class actions.
• Partner with Senior In-House Counsel on litigation strategy, investigations, and risk assessments.
• Manage outside counsel and oversee litigation costs and case progress.
• Respond to agency inquiries and administrative claims (DLSE, CRD/DFEH, EEOC).
• Conduct workplace investigations and provide practical legal guidance on employee relations issues.
• Review and update employee handbooks, employment agreements, policies, and related HR documentation.
• Advise HR and leadership on California labor and employment law compliance.
• Conduct legal research and provide recommendations on emerging employment law developments.
