Job summary

Element451 is a remote-first company providing an AI workforce platform for higher education institutions. We are seeking an in-house attorney to lead contract negotiations and privacy compliance with a focus on higher education clients.

You will work across cross-functional teams and report directly to leadership. The role offers high ownership, collaboration with CFO, IT, People Ops, Sales, and Accounting, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active U.S. state bar license required.
• 5–10 years of commercial/contracts law experience, ideally in B2B SaaS.
• Strong knowledge of FERPA, state privacy laws, and GDPR.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate customer MSAs, order forms, DPAs, and amendments with higher-ed institutions.
• Manage data privacy compliance, including FERPA, GDPR, and emerging state AI regulations.
• Own insurance renewals, dispute management, and employment support alongside People Ops.
