Job summary

The Reading Group in Cincinnati, OH, seeks an Associate Corporate Counsel to oversee litigation across its two business segments. You will handle pre-litigation, manage outside counsel, and drive post-judgment collections with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of litigation experience, an active law license, and strong ethics. Responsibility includes supporting commercial transactions and staying current on legal changes.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active law license and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 2-5 years of litigation experience.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized with exceptional communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications and legal research tools.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage diverse litigation matters across both business sectors, including commercial landlord-tenant disputes, eviction matters, and post-judgment collections.
• Retain and actively manage outside counsel for ongoing litigation, ensuring business teams and ownership are regularly updated on case status and strategy.
• Coordinate discovery, evidence collection, and litigation strategy, acting as the primary liaison between internal business teams and outside counsel.
• Collaborate seamlessly with multiple departments to gather necessary documents and ensure employees follow company procedures for documenting counterfeit evidence and complaints.
• Provide accurate and timely counsel to executives on a variety of legal topics and maintain current knowledge of pertinent legislative changes.
• Assist the Corporate Counsel on commercial transactions, including conducting due diligence review and legal research, as needed.
