Job summary

University of Colorado Boulder is seeking an Assistant Counsel to provide legal advice and representation to the University of Colorado system and the Boulder campus. This role requires strong legal judgment, collaboration with campus partners, and the ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

The position is hybrid, with some days remote and at least two days per week in the office, reporting to the Managing Associate University Counsel and Vice Chancellor for the Boulder campus.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Minimum of four (4) years practicing law.
• Licensed to practice law in Colorado or ability to obtain Colorado license promptly after offer.
• Demonstrated ethical behavior and professional integrity.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of University policies, state and federal law, and government regulations.
• Reviews, drafts, and negotiates contracts, business transactions, and other legal agreements.
• Reviews, drafts, and provides advice on campus and system-wide policies and procedures.
• Provides legal advice related to records requests, subpoenas, and court orders directed to the University and its employees.
• Provides holistic legal advice and guidance to the Boulder campus across academic, student life, business, and research operations.
