Job summary

Turning Point Community Programs in Rancho Cordova, CA seeks an experienced in-house counsel to provide legal guidance to executive leadership and staff. The role focuses on contracts, leases, labor and employment matters, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

The candidate must have a JD, CA Bar membership, and 3–5 years of relevant experience. This is an at-will, part-time position (24 hours/week, onsite).

Responsibilities

• Provide legal consultation to executive leadership, program leaders, and administrative staff.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, leases, MOUs, and other legal documents.
• Advise on labor and employment law matters including employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure compliance with California and federal employment laws (FMLA, ADA, EEO, FEHA, etc.).
• Serve as liaison with outside counsel on litigation and specialized legal matters.
• Review and provide guidance on organizational policies and procedures.
• Support risk management efforts including liability assessment and mitigation strategies.
• Monitor legal and regulatory changes and advise leadership on impact.
• Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries.
• Provide legal support related to governance and Board matters as needed.
• Maintain confidential legal records and documentation.
• Provide guidance on field and home office based safety protocols
• Support development and legal review of staff safety policies and procedures
• Provide legal oversight and guidance on critical incidents, including injury
• Review incident reports and advise on legal exposure, documentation standards, and corrective actions
