Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

• Experience managing litigation and working with outside counsel.
• Strong knowledge of contracts and clinical/regulatory agreements.
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions.

Anchored Executive Search is helping one of our healthcare clients find an In-House Counsel, Healthcare Risk Management & Litigation candidate.

We are seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to serve as a strategic legal advisor for an established and growing healthcare organization operating skilled nursing facilities, senior living communities, and related healthcare services. This role will partner closely with executive leadership to proactively manage legal risk while supporting the organization's continued growth through acquisitions, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in healthcare law, professional and general liability litigation, risk management, contracts, and healthcare mergers and acquisitions. This individual will work collaboratively with outside counsel while providing day-to-day legal guidance that helps the business make informed, practical decisions.

This is not a role focused solely on litigation; the position balances legal strategy, risk management, and operational support.

Duties

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to executive leadership by providing practical counsel on healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, contracts, and enterprise risk management.
• Lead and coordinate the organization's legal strategy for litigation and liability matters, including oversight of outside counsel handling professional and general liability claims, resident matters, employment disputes, regulatory investigations, and other healthcare-related legal matters.
• Draft, negotiate, and review a wide variety of business agreements and legal documents, including operating agreements, vendor agreements, management agreements, professional services agreements, real estate agreements, confidentiality agreements, settlement agreements, and ancillary transaction documents, with a focus on minimizing organizational risk.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions by conducting and coordinating legal due diligence, reviewing and negotiating transaction documents, identifying legal risks, and assisting with post-acquisition integration.
• Partner with Compliance, Human Resources, Clinical, Operations, Finance, and Risk Management leaders to proactively identify legal risks, strengthen policies and practices, and develop practical solutions that protect the organization while supporting business objectives.
• Monitor changes in healthcare laws and regulations affecting skilled nursing, senior living, and post-acute care, providing timely guidance, education, and recommendations that enable informed operational and strategic decision-making.
