Job summary

The Mecklenburg County School District is seeking a Homebound/Homebased Teacher in Boydton, VA to provide individualized and small group instruction to students who cannot attend school. You will ensure access to the general curriculum, monitor progress, and support transitions back to the classroom or alternative placement.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching license/certificate issued by the state.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred).
• Experience in general or special education teaching.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications for diverse learners.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• Reliable transportation to student instructional locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction in core content areas aligned with the student’s grade level and IEP/504 or general education curriculum.
• Develop and implement lesson plans based on district standards and student needs.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align instruction and assignments.
• Modify instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
• Maintain documentation of instructional hours, progress, and communication.
• Attend IEP/504 meetings, parent conferences, and staff meetings as required.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs.
• Monitor and report student achievement, behavior, and participation.
• Support transition back to classroom or alternative placement.
• Adhere to school board policies, state regulations, and professional standards of practice.
