Job summary

The Arc Erie County New York is seeking a Direct Support Professional I to provide person-centered assistance across daily living activities and community integration. You will support individuals in self-care, money management, cooking, and communication, while ensuring safety and adherence to agency protocols.

This non-exempt position requires completion of agency training (SCIP, First Aid, CPR, Medication Certification) and prior Human Services experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent diploma preferred.
• Arc Erie County New York training to include SCIP, First Aid, CPR and Medication Certification must be completed.
• Human Services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assures peoples safety by maintaining safety standards and emergency procedures.
• Intervenes with inappropriate or injurious behaviors in the least restrictive manner.
• Documents services, skill acquisitions, and supports daily.
• Assists people with personal monies and shopping needs.
• Provides first aid when necessary and addresses routine health care needs.
• Prepares or assists with meal planning and purchasing of food.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment and provides training in these areas.
• Assists in development of person-centered plans and assessment of skills and behavior.
• Attends staff meetings, trainings, and supervisory conferences.
• Follows DSP Core Competencies during evaluations.
• Assists with community integration and supports participation.
