Job summary

The New York Foundling is seeking a dedicated Tutor in New York City to support youth in foster care by enhancing their academic performance and developing effective study habits. You will work one-on-one with students to help them reach their academic goals, adapting educational strategies according to their unique strengths.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, previous tutoring experience, and the ability to engage with diverse learners, including those who may face personal challenges. This role involves both in-person and online sessions, requiring flexibility in scheduling and a commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments.

Qualifications

• Able to deliver effective instruction across all core subjects.
• Compassionate and patient, and sensitive to the needs of our target population.
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support a caseload of 15-18 students across subjects through tutoring sessions.
• Maintain a regular schedule and report on student progress.
• Engage students in one-on-one tutoring sessions both in-person and online.

Education
