Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated Family Support Officer to serve the Welkom community with hands-on care in homes and local settings. You will help strengthen family bonds, improve child welfare, and connect families with essential services to support healthy, stable family lives.

In this role you will assess needs, develop tailored support plans, coach on parenting skills, maintain case notes, and contribute to regular reports.

Qualifications

• A qualification in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working directly with families and children in a community setting is desirable.
• Strong understanding of child development, family systems and child protection principles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-home assessments to understand family needs, strengths, and challenges.
• Develop and implement tailored family support plans in collaboration with family members.
• Provide guidance on parenting, child development, and household management.
• Connect families with community resources such as healthcare, education, and financial aid.
• Offer emotional support and crisis intervention when needed.
• Maintain accurate case notes and prepare regular reports on progress.
