Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide in-home and community-based assistance, helping an individual maintain independence and daily routines. You will support with household tasks, personal care, meals, and activities the person enjoys, while promoting safety and dignity.

The role requires patience, reliability, and a compassionate approach; flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends is common.

Qualifications

• Patience, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide consistent reminders and structured support in a respectful manner.
• Experience supporting individuals with daily living tasks preferred but not required.
• Ability to assist with light household tasks and meal preparation.
• Dependable and able to follow a consistent schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and reminders to help the individual complete daily tasks and maintain a structured routine.
• Assist with meal preparation and encourage healthy eating habits.
• Support household organization and cleanliness, including light housekeeping.
• Provide assistance with laundry tasks such as ironing clothes and maintaining an organized wardrobe.
• Encourage and assist with personal grooming and hygiene routines.
• Support individual in maintaining a clean and organized living environment.
• Accompany or support during community activities when appropriate, such as dining out or recreational outings.
• Encourage participation in hobbies and interests, including playing video games, caring for pets, collecting trains, and yard work such as cutting the lawn.
• Provide positive reinforcement and consistent prompts to help maintain independence and follow-through with responsibilities.
