Job summary

Positive Development is seeking a Child Development Specialist to work one-on-one with children in their homes or center-based settings in the Santa Barbara area. You will help build communication, social, and daily living skills through play, conversation, and shared activities.

The role offers paid training and supervision from experienced clinicians, with direct pay at $26–$30/hour and additional benefits like mileage reimbursement and flexible part-time schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 1 year of volunteer or working experience with children.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to perform physical tasks (play on floor up to 2–3 hours, lift up to 40 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Build communication, social, and daily living skills through play and activities.
• Create meaningful connections that help children think, create, and engage with the world.
• Follow a relationship-based intervention model to achieve strong outcomes.
• Track progress by documenting session notes and goals.
• Collaborate with clinicians and supervisors to build clinical skills.
• Learn evidence-based developmental care in real life, not just textbooks.
• Work one-on-one with children in homes and centers.
