Job summary

Senior Helpers in San Diego is seeking a Home Care Specialist to provide compassionate in-home care for clients, supporting daily living activities and promoting independence. The role requires empathy, reliability, and strong communication to collaborate with families and care teams.

The ideal candidate will have caregiving experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to perform tasks safely, with shifts typically ranging from 3 to 9 hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year caregiving experience or CNA certification.
• Pass criminal background screening with clean driving record.
• Current U.S. driver’s license with registration and insurance.
• COVID-19 vaccination (including boosters).
• Ability to read/write/communicate in English.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs and transfer clients.
• Alzheimer’s/dementia care experience preferred.
• 21 years or older.
• Weekend availability or rotating weekend commitments.

Responsibilities

• Remind clients to take prescribed medications.
• Assist with ambulation and mobility around the home.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene tasks.
• Light housekeeping and meal preparation.
• Plan and prepare meals; shop for clients as needed.
• Provide companionship and support.
• Report unusual incidents to the office.
• Typical shifts range from 3–9 hours per day.
