Job summary

Gladwin City Housing Commission/Council on Aging, Gladwin County seeks a part-time caregiver to assist elderly residents in their homes with homemaking, personal care, and respite tasks across the county. The role involves traveling to client homes with mileage reimbursement and travel-time pay, a set-your-own-schedule format, and weekday hours from 8:00 a.m.

Responsibilities

• Light homemaking – sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, bathroom/kitchen cleaning, dishes, laundry, bedding, trash; maintain a safe environment.
• Assist with bathing, transfers, toileting, and other personal care tasks as needed; ensure safety.
• Provide respite care, accompany clients, document activities accurately and timely; travel to homes.

Job description

This part-time position has a focus on assisting elderly Gladwin County citizens in their homes to perform routine household, personal care tasks and respite care. Self-motivation and organization are necessary parts of this position. It is a set-your-own-schedule position that allows workers to slowly build up their clientele and fill their schedule as needed. Working hours are from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. No weekends or holidays. Traveling is a major part of this position. Our program reimburses mileage and pays for travel time as well.

Job Duties:

Homemaking:

Light housekeeping – sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, bathroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning, dishes, laundry, changing bedding, trash removal, other approved items as needed. Maintaining a safe environment

Personal Care:

Assisting with bathing – no tub baths. Assistance in and out of a shower, sponge or bed bath. Assisting with hair washing and washing areas that cannot be done on their own. Maintaining a safe environment and cleaning up after.

Respite Care:

Assisting with Activities of Daily Living as needed while the person’s caregiver gets out. Assist with transferring, toileting, meals, medication reminders, ambulating, companionship, light cleanup and other assigned tasks, all as needed. Traveling to and from clients’ homes. Filling out paperwork with accuracy and honesty and turning it in on time.

Qualifications:

Pass a background and driving record check. Must have a reliable vehicle and up-to-date insurance. CNA is not required but preferred. Dependability, good organization and good time management.
