Job summary

The Southern California Learning Corporation is seeking a Center Tutor for our Whittier, CA learning center. In this part-time, in-person role, you will deliver Sylvan-based instruction, engage students, and track progress on program materials.

Responsibilities include preparing sessions, greeting and guiding students, and coordinating with the Education Team. A four-year degree and teaching experience are preferred, with tablet experience beneficial.

Qualifications

• Competency in Math and/or English Language Arts, assessed as part of the hiring process.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for instructional sessions and gather materials.
• Greet students and initiate instruction to engage each student.
• Deliver instruction using Sylvan program materials.
• Manage time and tasks to create productive sessions.
• Evaluate and record student progress on assignments.
• Motivate students using Sylvan tokens and track rewards.
• Conclude sessions with learning logs and safety procedures.
• Communicate student progress to the Education Team.
• Attend staff meetings and complete ongoing training.
• Complete certification training for Sylvan programs.
