What You'll Do

You will coordinate import export customs and shipping activities for the department, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will track containers and manage inspections and treatments with government agencies while acting as a liaison with customs brokers to arrange deliveries and pickups. Occasional travel by automobile or airplane may be required for business-related purposes.

Essential Functions
  • Track containers in the port system, document vessel delays, and verify container history and per diem.
  • Coordinate fumigation and inspections with government agencies by communicating inspection needs and providing required documentation.
  • Track and manage cold treatments, investigate variances, and report or resolve issues as necessary.
  • Act as a liaison with customs brokers to arrange container deliveries and pickups, coordinate schedules, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare import-export documentation for government agencies, maintain detailed logs of fumigation inspections and treatments, and create container documentation for operations and billing.
  • Ensure compliance with import export customs and shipping regulations and maintain accurate records.
  • Travel by automobile or airplane for business-related purposes as required.
  • Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.
What Experience And Education You Need
  • Minimum 3 years of warehouse or shipping and receiving experience required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proven mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Proven knowledge and proficiency in reporting tools such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint sufficient to create communication documents and basic financial reports.
  • Proven ability to identify and solve problems in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
What Could Set You Apart
  • Effective verbal and written communication and customer service skills sufficient to read and interpret financial and shipping documents and partner with customers and co-workers.
  • Experience in the food industry, warehousing, or transportation industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of USDA regulations and experience working with government agencies and imports.
  • Familiarity with Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system preferred.
  • Understanding of conditions of entry and regulations for produce.
  • Ability to independently initiate and complete tasks without direct supervision.
  • Ability to learn and be proficient in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as JDA and GLS.
  • Adaptability to changing deadlines and scopes while maintaining accuracy.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, reaching, and/or bending.
  • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work, including the operation of computers, telephones, and similar equipment.
  • Requires ability to comprehend and communicate with others, verbally and/or in writing.
  • May require travel by automobile and airplane for business.
  • May require visits to warehouse operations in temperatures at or below freezing.
  • May require the occasional lifting, carrying, positioning, and/or moving of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
