Job summary

RMantra Solutions is seeking an Implementations Network Engineer to oversee installation, configuration and testing of network systems for DoD DISA projects at Scott AFB. You will work with customers and vendors to implement changes, manage service orders, activate circuits, and monitor performance against expectations.

Strong knowledge of BGP/OSPF, DHCP/DNS/TCP/IP, and network hardware is required, along with an active Secret clearance and DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification.

Qualifications

  • Requires BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Active Secret security clearance required.
  • DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Proficient knowledge of network hardware specs, configuration and testing.
  • Experience in network engineering, problem and performance management.
  • Knowledge of networking architecture and evaluating new technologies.
  • Experience with data and voice network design across transmissions systems.
  • Experience with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF).
  • Knowledge of configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation oversight, configuration, testing, monitoring, and servicing of network equipment for DISA-aligned projects.
  • Coordinate with customers, solution architects and vendor SMEs to implement changes and resolve issues.
  • Manage Service Orders in accordance with Change Management procedures.
  • Ensure TSOs are in place for scheduled network changes.
  • Initiate network device configurations using configlets.
  • Analyze DISN/databases to validate customer requirements.
  • Design and implement solutions to technical problems through testing and documentation.
  • Coordinate circuit activations with vendors for end-to-end connectivity.
  • Monitor deployed changes for impacts on customer traffic.

Job description

The Implementations Network Engineer will perform installation oversight, configuration, testing, monitoring, servicing of network equipment and activation of networks for projects supporting the Department of Defense networks.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for performing and training team on the following duties: Perform customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), execution of all reporting functions, and complete data input associated with new service activations to ensure they are implemented in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) standards.
  • Work directly with customers, solution architects and vendor SMEs to implement changes and also identify, analyze, and resolve issues.
  • Manage Service Orders, in accordance with Change Management procedures
  • Ensure Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) are in place and accurate for scheduled network additions and changes
  • Initiate network device configurations using configlets
  • Analyze DISN and databases to validate and implement customer requirements
  • Design and implementation of solutions to highly technical problems through testing, documentation and modification of configurations on network devices
  • Coordinate and program customer circuit activation with commercial vendors to establish the engineered solution for end-to-end connectivity
  • Perform network monitoring to assess if deployed changes have caused impacts to customer traffic using provided expectations of traffic behavior, lessons learned, and customer reporting
  • Utilize systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements in support of customer resources.
  • Engage with the DISA project managers and/or customers to resolve issues with incomplete or unclear requirements.
  • Reach out to stakeholders and facilitate approvals as necessary to ensure continual forward progress of the service request.
Basic Qualifications
  • Requires BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • An active Secret security clearance is required.
  • DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Proficient knowledge of various network hardware equipment specifications, configuration and testing processes, and industry specifications.
  • Network engineering, problem management, and performance management experience.
  • Knowledge of networking architecture, evaluating, and recommending new technologies to enhance current capabilities and performing needs assessments.
  • Knowledge of data and voice network design carried over various transmissions systems, router to router connections using military and commercial protocols such as BGP and ISIS, switch-to-switch trunking to include VLANS, and circuit configurations through multiplexers.
  • Experience with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, etc.) and network appliances (e.g., routers, load balancers, domain name servers, firewalls).
  • Knowledge of configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, but self-driven to complete assignments while continually developing proficiencies in processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communications, team building and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience at DISA, or knowledge of DISA systems and processes
  • Prior experience with SharePoint data entry, DDOE, or SharePoint order processing.
  • Order services on behalf of the customer; input service requests into DISA Storefront (DSF)
  • Experience providing customer outreach on all orders to ensure accuracy of the POC, location, and interface
  • Required Education and Experience: Requires BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master's with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
