DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Manage and coordinate scheduling for Line Leads and Production Associates to ensure the production lines are running in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. Work with Plant HR Department to handle various employment issues, including but not limited to, scheduling conflicts, employee disputes, workplace investigations and other issues that may arise.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare employee work schedules and assign duties along the production line to meet production deadlines and requirements with an emphasis on safety and efficiency.
  2. Manage and review all time away from work (TAFW) requests, ensuring staffing needs for day-to-day production operation are met.
  3. Work with Plant HR to adjust or update employee schedules as needed to meet production needs.
  4. Train, motivate and guide the Line Leads and Production Associates to promote internal growth and increase overall efficacy of the production team.
  5. Observe employees’ strengths and weaknesses and place them in the various production positions accordingly to maximize efficient operation of each production line.
  6. Ensure adequate raw materials inventory is on hand to achieve production requirements.
  7. Work with Plant HR to resolve any potential labor relations issues that impact the employees along the production line.
  8. Track and analyze recurring downtime issues and drive for resolution at the root cause level.
  9. Address any disputes between employees that may arise, fostering a safe and cooperative work environment and involving Plant Management/HR when necessary.
  10. Work with Union Representatives to foster a good-natured working environment and an amiable relationship between union employees and SugarCreek.
  11. Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  12. Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
  13. Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures.
  14. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of supervision or management experience required, preferably in a food processing environment.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: None.

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  1. Know regulatory requirements for food manufacturing, including USDA requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices for food operations.
  2. Able to understand and improve manufacturing processes.
  3. Able to communicate effectively and efficiently using both verbal and written skills.
  4. Know how to actively listen to employees across various departments to address production issues or improve production efficiency.
  5. Able to read, interpret and review instructions for preparation of materials.
  6. Able to use critical thinking to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
  7. Able to work cooperatively with others.
  8. Able to lead production associates in a high-speed production environment.
  9. Possess strong leadership skills, independent thinking, organizational skills and planning abilities.
