Montcalm Area Intermediate School District is seeking an Athletic Assistant Coach for the Varsity Boys Basketball program at Howard City- Tri County High School. The role supports the Varsity Head Coach in leading practices, skill development, and game preparation, while fostering sportsmanship and teamwork among student-athletes.

The ideal candidate has coaching experience, strong basketball knowledge, and the ability to mentor and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball rules, fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaches, and school staff.
• CPR/AED certification preferred.
• Ability to motivate, mentor, and positively support student-athletes.

Responsabilités

• Assist the Varsity Head Coach with all aspects of the boys basketball program.
• Assist with planning and conducting practices, drills, conditioning, and skill-development activities.
• Coach and develop student-athletes in the fundamental skills necessary for successful participation in basketball.
• Assist with player development and provide individualized instruction as directed by the Varsity Head Coach.
• Encourage participation, development, and advancement of younger players within the basketball program.
• Assist with game preparation, scouting, strategy, and game-day responsibilities as assigned by the Varsity Head Coach.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, accountability, and positive behavior among student-athletes.
• Help establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive team culture.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents, coaches, school staff, and the Athletic Department.
• Support and follow the philosophy, expectations, policies, and procedures of Tri County Area Schools and the athletic program.
• Work cooperatively with the Varsity Head Coach, other assistant coaches, athletic trainer, Athletic Director, and school administration.
• Assist with supervision of student-athletes during practices, games, tournaments, and other basketball-related activities.
• Assist with the care, organization, and proper use of team equipment, supplies, and facilities.
• Help maintain accurate equipment and inventory records as assigned.
• Assist with fundraising activities and other program-related events.
• Promote positive relationships between the basketball program, Tri County Area Schools, families, and the community.
• Attend required practices, games, meetings, clinics, and other activities associated with the position.
• Maintain professional conduct and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
• Perform other duties related to the basketball program as assigned by the Varsity Head Coach or Athletic Director.
