Job summary

Atlantic Health System's radiology department in Morristown seeks a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to operate imaging equipment and ultrasound to form diagnostic images. You will acquire and analyze sonographic data to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, completion of an accredited diagnostic sonography program, ARDMS certification, and 2+ years of experience.

• ARDMS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust ultrasound equipment and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.
• Ensure safety standards and perform quality control procedures.
• Perform routine and complex studies and assist in imaging procedures.
• Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
• Ensure equipment is functioning; report problems and lock/tag out if needed.
• Submit high-quality images and documents to PACS with correct data.
• Maintain a clean and orderly department including rooms and storage areas.
• Maintain regulatory compliance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for using imaging equipment and ultrasound to form images of many parts of the body. They are trained to acquire and analyze these sonographic images. These images are used to help doctors diagnose and treat many medical conditions.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
2. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
3. Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
4. Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
5. Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
6. Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
7. Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
8. Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Education:

• Graduate of Accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program

License/Certification:

• ARDMS required

Relevant Experience:

• The ideal candidate should have 2+ years' experience preferred
